Bug Description
When VLC hangs a bit (e.g. if I play a video with a lot of programs running), it disables the sound, and I have to disable the audio track then set it to track 1 again in order to have sound again.

You mean VLC stops doing audio or VLC blocks audio for all other applications? In the latter case, it would be a PulseAudio bug.
In any case, we would need the verbose VLC log.
