Bug Description

I've just done a fresh install of Feisty H5, and speed step on my 1.8ghz Intel Dothan centrino cpu is not working at all. This is not uncommon, as other distro's have problems with this particular cpu, but Ubuntu 6.06 and 6.10 worked really well. Currently, it's locked to 600mhz, and on logging in, I'm informed that frequency scaling is not available due to misconfiguration or because my cpu doesnt support it.

Here's the cpu info from my laptop (a UK spec Fujistu Siemens Amilo M1425):

In /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/ I have nothing relating to cpufreq

Doing a quick file search, I couldnt find anything when looking for speedstep-centrino*. Is this normal?

Any help appreciated - would love to get this fixed.

Thanks.

This issue is because the dothan CPU tables are not in upstream linux kernel. There are patches available to fix it, but they are extremely pervasive in the source tree. The project that supports them needs to actively push these patches upstream.
