12.04 Installer crashed

Bug Description

Installer crashed far into the install. Virtualbox install with 2048 ram, 10gb vdi disk, opted to install updates during installation and 3rd party software, erase and use entire disk.

**I don't believe it is a duplicate of 850264. I was installing amd64
version in Virtualbox on an 64bit machine, there was no foreign
architecture here. On a second attempt I did not opt for installing
updates or 3rd party software and the install was successful with no
apparent errors. Of course I can't say for certain that is what the
error was on the first attempt but it is the only thing I did differently.

I too have seen this bug without the "foreign architecture" situation. I don't believe it is a duplicate of 850264.
