Bug Description
software-center 5.0.1.4, Ubuntu 11.10
You have got so many HAM Radio Programs in your repository, but without Category it is impossible to find most of them. Would love to have this category added, because I know many HAM Operators who switch from Windows to Linux just because of some of those Programs. Including me.
Thank you!

I've now specified a subcategory of "Sound & Video" for "Amateur Radio". <https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/SoftwareCen ter#hamradio> However, it wouldn't make sense to have just one subcategory, and having any other subcategories depends on having debtags (bug 57418), so this indirectly depends on that.
There are a couple of things I'm not sure of. One is which name is better, "Amateur Radio" or "Ham Radio". Another is whether there is a clear boundary between software for amateur radio, and software for professional radio. If there isn't, then Last.fm, Spotify, etc clients would end up alongside ham radio software in a single "Radio" subcategory. How sensible would that be?
