Bug Description

The preview-latex on emacs23 does not work on Ubuntu 11.10. It shows small "wrong way" icons in place of preview images.

11.04 is also affected. I think it has something to do with gs Version 9. If "-dSAFER" is removed from the gs options preview mode works but this can be dangerous.

As per the linked post this is not a duplicate of bug #543266 although the two have the same overall symptom (LaTeX preview fails). The workaround for #543266 is to upgrade to upstream CVS which according to the OP on Stackexchange specifically did not solve his problem. Just noting here in case somebody else would also see the similarity between the two bugs.

Upon closer examination, the patch for #543266 also tweaks "-dSAFER", replacing it with "-dDELAYSAFER".
