Bug Description

This was reported in http://ask.linaro.org/questions/426 and I verified it still not working in the latest release: android-build.linaro.org/builds/~linaro-android/landing-panda/.

Here is summary of what was reported:

Booting the current Linaro Android (ICS) on the Panda, there is no output on the HDMI display. My HDMI monitor remains in its "powersave" mode. However, if I then physically disconnect the HDMI cable from the Panda and reconnect it, the Android display output is shown on the HDMI monitor.

When the HDMI cable is plugged back in, I see the following on the ttySO2 serial console:

[ 907.420349] hpd 1
[ 907.469879] in hpd work 1, state=0
[ 907.473663] omapdss HDMI: ENTER hdmi_display_enable
[ 907.546997] in hpd work 2, state=1
[ 908.205444] edid[000] = 00 ff ff ff ff ff ff 00 10 ac 33 f0 53 4e 48 30
[ 908.212860] edid[010] = 11 15 01 03 80 33 1d 78 ea 1e 55 a0 59 56 9f 27
[ 908.219970] edid[020] = 0d 50 54 a5 4b 00 71 4f 81 80 d1 c0 01 01 01 01
[ 908.227081] edid[030] = 01 01 01 01 01 01 02 3a 80 18 71 38 2d 40 58 2c
....and so on.

So on standard boot, there is no HDMI activity, nor reading of EDID display info. But disconnect/reconnect of HDMI cable causes all to work.

I have also tried appending "omapdss.def_disp=hdmi" to the bootargs, but that did not help.

Doesn't happen with current kernel and JB release. Closing for ICS.
