Mailing lists to big lists can take a long time to send mail

When I send mail to the openstack mailing list it can take 1+ hours to final deliver the mail. It appears like this issue is in forster.canonical.com. i.e:

spm reports that this is a known issue on the Launchpad side, and needs to be addressed within Mailman. wgrant confirms, and adds that fixing constant mhonarc errors may solve this and other issues.

Gary, thanks for moving this in the correct direction. I've noticed this issues is more apparent during the US afternoon& evening. Please let me know what information I can provide to help you diagnose this issue.

@Gary, I disagree this isn't a know issue within Mailman. The Mailman smtp logs show that it takes about 5 minutes to send all email to the configured SMTP hosts to deliver all emails to the openstack list. What happens before and after we don't know, but I've seen no evidence that this time was spent in Mailman. Might be other problems in our email architecture though.

If you get the Message-ID from that particular email, we can probably trace it through the logs of our various SMTP hops in our system.

I believe this was fixed by changing the max recipients-per-connection limit?
