software properties settings are not respected

In Software Sources, I have checked "Check for updates ... Daily" and "download updates in the background;" however, it does not check for updates. If I manually check for updates, it does not download the updates in the background.

I have another Ubuntu system with the same settings, and it works properly as expected.

Moving to software-properties package, as that's where the check for updates and download updates settings can be found, only you can open the dialog from Synaptic->Settings->Repositories.

I have found out that if I turn off "Check for updates ... Daily" and save it, then restart the app and turn it back on, then updates are checked for dailing once again.

Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. Ubuntu 11.04 reached EOL on October 28, 2012.

I've tried recreating this bug with Ubuntu 12.10 and was unable to, given the information you've provided. Please upgrade to the latest version and re-test. If the bug is still reproducible, increase the verbosity of the steps to recreate it so we can try again.
