on a fresh ubuntu 10.04.2 live usb package watershed 5 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

I was trying to install lvm2 on the live USB and I got this error. I tried again, and got the error again.

Somehow lvm2 ended up being installed, although every run I tried of apt-get still complained. I got my home partition resized, which was my original goal.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The version of update-initramfs that you likely have installed is unable to work on a persistent usb stick. You can resolve this issue by upgrading the version of casper on your system. This can be done via the commands:

sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install casper
