"Install all available updates" from Unity dash does not work

Bug Description

When the update-manager icon is kept in the Unity dash, it shows an option to install all available updates when right-clicked. Chosing this option does not work, unless update-manager is currently running (which makes this option pretty usesless, as the running update-manager has an "Install" button anyway ;-) ).

Sorry to correct myself: Right now, the problem is back:
- if I right-click on Update Manager's icon in the Unity dah, I see the options "Check for Updates" and "Install All Available Updates"
- left-clicking on either of these options does nothing.
Given that it worked yesterday, there must be something interacting with Update Manager or the Unity dash.

I only see the options "Check for Updates" and "Install All Available Updates" when update-manager is running otherwise I just see "Update Manager" and "Remove from Launcher".

I see "Check for Updates" always, and "Install All Available Updates" if updates are available -- regardless of update manager running or not.

On my testbed machine, the option to install updates only appears when the update-manager is running. Like Brian said, it does not seem to be there when its not running. Are you sure that its really not running when you right click? Try running this in a terminal to verify it is really not running:

ps -e | grep update

This happens to me too on Ubuntu 11.10 and update-manager 1:0.152.25.9.
I set my update-manager to display new updates, and when that happens, it will display its icon in the dash with a number of how many updates there are available.
Left-clicking it has no effect, and no right-click item except for 'Quit' has any effect either.
It's super annoying to have to right-click quit the icon before I can launch the update-manager to actually install these updates.
