Cannot see Kate menu using gnome-shell

I always used to install and use Kate inside Gnome.
Now, I have tried using Kate within gnome-shell, and I found out I cannot see the menu bar (see attachment).

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

I think there is some keyboard shortcut that let the menu to appear again. It happened once. But I have not realized what shortcut it is.

Menu bar was OK for me but then one day just disapeared. Had to edit ~/.kde/share/config/kwriterc to remove disbable of menu bar that had suddenly happened.

Reading around it seems at one time ^M would turn off menu bar but not turn it back on. Does not seem to do anything now.

              When this happens, Right click the kate button on bottom bar - click resize - then drag top down
