Bug Description

I use Ubuntu 11.10 and expect, that on my headset the speakers and the mic begin to work after pairing.
Instead of that just the speakers work and the mic doesn't appear on the list of input audio devices.

On my old notebook where i also used the current ubuntu version all worked flawlessly.
I use an Nokia BH-905 headset, but since someone also has this problem with an different headset ( http://askubuntu.com/questions/51170/how-can-i-get-my-bluetooth-headsets-microphone-working ) I don't think it is headset specific.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . If possible, please test the latest v3.2-rcN kernel (Not a kernel in the daily directory). Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag(Only that one tag, please leave the other tags). This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text.

If this bug is fixed by the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream-KERNEL-VERSION'. For example, if kernel version 3.2-rc1 fixed and issue, the tag would be: 'kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.2-rc1'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. If you believe this bug does not require upstream testing, please add the tag: 'kernel-upstream-testing-not-needed'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Ok. I did not had the time to test 3.2 yet.
I think I tested it already and it didnt worked - but I am not sure so I have to prove it again. :-)
Under 3.0 and 3.1 it doesn't work.

Today I found out that the microphone is recognized when I change the profile in the gnome audio settings from A2DP to HSP/HFP.
But the audio quality is terrible then.

Ok. Now I tested v3.2-rc4-oneiric.
WIth this kernel Bluetooth behaves very strange. I can in bluetooth settings the headset appears as connected but it is not visible in audio settings at all. So it looks like a different bug which prevents me from testing the bug in this ticket.

PS: And I have no wifi with this kernel.

Okay. Now I was curious. In v3.2.1-precise the headset appears again in the bluetooth settings but the bug persists.
So the mic from headset is only recognized when I change the profile to HSP/HFP.

Ah. I think it could be a duplicate of Bug #444017 ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/444017/comments/5 ).
If it is, then this bug survived quite long…
