lucid to precise does not work

i tried to do sudo update-manager -c -d in the terminal and got following error message

term .log blank therefore cannot attach

i have some ppas added also if that matters

and i switched from grub to burg if that matters

i ran update-manager -d and got further in the update procress and as a result i am re-uploading the main.log apt.log and term.log

term.log still blank

i switched from ubuntu to arch so cant upload the log files
