Bug Description

k3b: "Device in use - It is urged to terminate the program gvfsd-cdda before proceeding."
I consider this inacceptable. I did not start "the program" gvfsd-cdda. All I have done is starting my comuter, inserted a CD and started K3b in order to rip this CD. It is not the obligation to terminate some obscure program, which the user did not start, just to be able to rip the CD which he has inserted. Rather, this is the obligation of the program K3b itself.
There are other users who have the same problem as me: http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-839853.html.

Still a problem in Linux Mint 17.1 64-bit MATE (Ubuntu 14.04). K3b was able to terminate conflicting programs and read the CD. However, but the problem reoccurred after inserting the blank CD into the same drive as the source, so writing/burning was still not possible. Copying was only possible using an external/USB DVD and writing to the in-built DVD writer.

Brasero also had problems but didn't provide such an informative explanation of the problem.

Ubuntu 16.04 also impacted. First kill from k3b works ok, after changing CD the second attempt crashes the GUI session.

Launch of gvfsd-cdda should be optional. Related to https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=544148

Hacked by removal of the unneeded daemon:

# pwd; ls -l gvfsd-cdda* ; cat gvfsd-cdda
/usr/lib/gvfs
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 19 Aug 3 09:05 gvfsd-cdda
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 31912 May 18 2016 gvfsd-cdda-DISABLE
#!/bin/bash
exit 0
