Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it seems that there is a problem with your hardware. Please retry test your systems memory - this can be done with an Ubuntu bootable CD by choosing 'Test memory' in the boot menu. In the event that is not in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's status back to New. Thanks and good luck!

Changed in ubiquity (Ubuntu):
status: New → Invalid

@Brian Murray,

It would appear you are correct. Further tests proved the hard drive is faulty. All in order now that a new hard drive has been installed.

For the record, memory is fine and system self-diagnostics reported no fault apart from the hard drive (S.M.A.R.T Hard drive failure immenent)

Sorry for the wasted bug report!

Nick
