cannot accept contact (there is no accept button)

There is no button to accept or to deny contact.. Same thing was in 11.04 (now using 11.10). I tried to reinstall but no help.

In empathy chat client.. Somebody sent me a request and i cannot accept it, and always when i turn on empathy it said that i have a request but there is no way to accept or deny..

i am also affected by this issue thanks for the bug report.
i also add friend from gmail account but email goes towards him.but he was not be able to add me.
after this i tried to add my friend by empathy than i log out and login next day.
on the next day the contact was added but i don;t from where it has be added.
