Firefox Freezes opening tabs or windows

When opening addtional tabs or windows Firefox stops responding. Other applications continue responding but slowly.

Thank you for the bug report. Could you please install the firefox-dbg package and try to obtain a backtrace (or crash report) by following the instructions on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MozillaTeam/Bugs This will greatly aid us in tracking down your problem.

Which flash package and version do you have installed?
Which Java package and version do you have installed?
Which video player and version do you have installed?
Which firefox extensions and themes do you have installed?

What exactly were you doing at time of hanging? Can you reproduce this every time?

in order to let us work out a testcase, its important that you try if your problem is a) reproducible and b) if it is due to an extension.

For b) try running firefox in -safe-mode:

  # firefox -safe-mode

and see if it goes away. If so, try disabling extension s one by one to find the bad extension and let us know which one caused the troubles.
