Cannot turn on Guides Lines.
Trying by Menu or | shortcut, but no action.

pressing F11 & | combination can cause that Guides Lines apperas. ?!

Please provide information about OS/platform, Inkscape version (see Inkscape menu 'Help > About Inkscape'), and locale settings (UI language, keyboard layout).

OS: Windows XP SP3 PL
Inkscape: 0.48.1
Lang: PL or EN
Keyb: Polish Programmers

COmment: F11 and fullscreen mode is the key to fix the guides up.
Guides shows in Fullscreen mode, and when ruller is visible in widow mode, draging a guide causes
turn full screen mode on.

Not reproduced with Inkscape 0.48.2 on Mac OS X 10.5.8 (i386) - using custom shortcut to compensate for loacized keyboard where '|' can't be created without additional modifier: guides can be shown and hidden with both the menu command and the keyboard shortcut, independent of window/fullscreen (internal)/maximized (window manager) mode.

But the problem is: app don't response on command: show the Guides.
Do nothing.
When I press button F11 for screen mode change then guides appears ?! Why?

Nothing in my earlier report denies that. Don't expect answers or a fix just 4 hours after filing a report: the inkscape team is far too small to offer such a "service". (And please keep in mind that inskcape is cross-plattform (with the main development platform being linux)).

To explain my earlier comment (it was not intended specifically for you as bug reporter - just a normal process for bug triage):
1) The issue does not seem related to the known issues with certain predefined keyboard shortcuts on localized keyboard layouts and modifiers liek 'option/alt' or 'AltGr' (because you say that the menu command fails as well).
2) By not being able to reproduce it on Mac OS X (with both GTK+/X11 and GTK+/Quartz), this indicates that the problem is likely an issue related or limited to the Windows port of Inkscape (GTK+/win32).
3) The next step is waiting for someone being able to reproduce the issue i.e. finding a system (or certain system settings on Windows) which allow this issue to be reproduced on other systems than yours.

Based on your replies in the tablet-related bug #901276:
- Is this report also based on the portable version of Inkscape, and not
  the official installer version?
- Did you download the installer from Inkscape's official download site?
  <http://sourceforge.net/projects/inkscape/files/inkscape/>?
  For the version information of Inkscape please rely on Inkscape's
  'Help > About Inkscape' dialog (instead of external information e.g.
  provided in Explorer).
- Does it also persist in Inkscape 0.48.2?
- Any unusual desktop settings? Which Windows theme do you use?

Not reproduced on Windows XP, Inkscape 0.48.2.
I'll try later with 0.48.1 to see if the bug affects 0.48.1 only.

Hi.
I'm sorry. Maybe I didn't understand you well.
I don't expect "express service".
I thank you all guys for this wonderfull free application !

I saw something:
When modal windows appear ( export window )and ruller ia active then App
goes to Full Screen Mode (?!).
When opening Color Properities then App goes to FSM and goes back to
normal mode after display the Color Properities window embeded in the
right panel.

My portable version is downloaded from official site.
Typical desktop setting/ I have ObjectDock pannel, but app works the
same with and without it.

I will try to install 0.48.2 stationary version.

Tested again with 0.48.1, Windows XP, and everything works fine on my computer.

0.48.1-2(pef) didn't work fine with Rulers & Guides.
0.48.2 works OK with rulers & tablet. :)

So I think the case is over.

Closing for now based on user feedback (thx - much appreciated). It seems to have been a glitch with the older installation of Inkscape 0.48.1 (as it was not reproduced by jazzyNico with the same version on the same platform). Please reopen the report if the error reoccurs with the current release version (right now still 0.48.2).
