Bug Description

I just installed calibre on ubuntu 11.10 (64bits), but it just won't start:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/calibre", line 18, in <module>
    from calibre.gui2.main import main
  File "/usr/lib/calibre/calibre/gui2/__init__.py", line 7, in <module>
    from PyQt4.Qt import (QVariant, QFileInfo, QObject, SIGNAL, QBuffer, Qt,
ImportError: cannot import name QDesktopServices

I tried to purge the calibre and calibre-bin packages but not avail. Any idea?

Hi,

Could you post the result of the following commands:
apt-cache policy python-qt4
ls -lrt /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/PyQt4/QtGui.so

Thanks,
Fabrice

I purge it all the other day, thus I reinstalled it today and it just worked.

I don't know what happened thought. I purged a bunch of useless packages since the report and actually rebooted my laptop. Anyway, it fixed itself.

Changed in calibre (Ubuntu):
status: New → Invalid
