Bug Description

As you can see in the attachment if you start typing something in the awesome bar, its suggestions hide Onboard.

Note: I've enaled Onboard setting "force window to top", so I think that every kind of windows, menubar, tooltip should stay beneath Onboard...

I'm using Oneiric.

Thank you for the bug report, Alessio. This is a know issue with firefox and Onboard (and other on-screen keyboards). If I had a way to fix this I would, but at the moment all I can suggest is to either keep Onboard far enough away from the popup or to disable the pop-up all together:

In firefox go to about:config and set
browser.urlbar.autocomplete.enabled = False

If someone comes up with a creative fix we'll be all over it, but better don't hold your breath. Sorry.

The tool-tip of the option explains that force-to-top is _trying_ to stay above anything. Unfortunately the window manager has the last say. Perhaps we should make that clearer.

Thank you for the clarification, actually I don't use very much the screen keyboard, but I was doing some "experiments" and I've noticed this bug...however (maybe is a stupid solution, but maybe it works for user that are using compiz) it isn't possible to create a "top layer" in compiz and stick the Onboard screen to it? Something like a widget...

Thanks for the suggestion. I've checked the widget layer plugin out but it doesn't appear to help. Many problems:

- The widget layer plugin is compiz only
  (Onboard tries to run under compiz, mutter, metacity (kwm))
- The plugin is not installed by default
- compiz-plugins-extra is in universe, not main
- In my tries It doesn't help, awesome-popup and context menus still overlap onboard in widget mode

If you have other ideas, just post them.

Epiphany browser has the same problem. As firefox and epiphany browsers also suffer #905636 maybe both bugs are related. Wish this helps.

Not a duplicate of bug #905636, unfortunately.
