Bug Description

Generally, my Inspiron 1525 laptop wakes up fine after suspend, but sometimes it looks like it's going to resume, but then it appears to restart X, and all of my programs have been closed.

I'm happy to attach log files - I just don't know which ones would be helpful.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/899966/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

Occurs every single suspend on Ubuntu 11.10 on Thinkpad T400. No clue how to fix that.

I'm still having this problem on 12.04. It happens much more often when my laptop is not plugged in, or when the battery is very low.

This is obviously a very high priority for those of us with this problem. A workaround or a patch or at least a description of the problem would be incredibly helpful.

Thank you!!

Oh - and I have a variation of what appears to be the same problem. Sometimes after suspend the screen partially comes back - the mouse cursor is working and visible, but the login screen never appears. The screen just stays black.
