The backtrace is similar to http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=376277. Could you get a new one with xchat-gnome-dbgsym installed?

As asked here:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=376277

This are my locale settings:
LANG=it_IT.UTF-8
LANGUAGE=it_IT:it:en_GB:en
LC_CTYPE="it_IT.UTF-8"
LC_NUMERIC="it_IT.UTF-8"
LC_TIME="it_IT.UTF-8"
LC_COLLATE="it_IT.UTF-8"
LC_MONETARY="it_IT.UTF-8"
LC_MESSAGES="it_IT.UTF-8"
LC_PAPER="it_IT.UTF-8"
LC_NAME="it_IT.UTF-8"
LC_ADDRESS="it_IT.UTF-8"
LC_TELEPHONE="it_IT.UTF-8"
LC_MEASUREMENT="it_IT.UTF-8"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="it_IT.UTF-8"
LC_ALL=

I've found that with "export LANG=en_GB"
 xchat-gnome does runs but giving me these warnings:

(xchat-gnome:7052): Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library.
        Using the fallback 'C' locale.

(xchat-gnome:7052): Gdk-WARNING **: locale not supported by C library

Hope this could help.

I think it's not working until traslation is complete.
It happened with Feisty beta and fixed with Feisty stable.
It seems it's happening again with Gutsy Beta.
Probably it will be fixed in Gutsy stable with complete translation.
Actually you can get it working with this trick:

LANG=en_GB xchat-gnome

It's strange... xchat-gnome Italian translation has been completed upstream a couple of months ago... and even on Launchpad it's complete.

Milo Casagrande (milo) wrote :

It was an error on a translated string, this bug affects upstream too and it's 487503 in GNOME's Bugzilla.

The string has been corrected today in Launchpad (it was #453) and with a new langpack everything should work fine, tonight I'm going to pass a patch upstream too.

Thanks to Luca Falavigna who tracked the problem!

Cheers!
