Bug Description

Hi y'all,

Everything works beautifully in mint 12 with gnome 3 until I open banshee and start to listen to music. After a while (say 20 or 30 minutes) the whole gnome shell freezes. It seems to be only the gnome shell, because the program I'm still using, such as terminal, gedit, or any other, keeps working and I notice the problem when I try to do a alt-tab or use the applications menu. When it happens I need to force restart.

I tryied to use rythmbox instead of banshee and change some sound configurations but nothing solved my problem. The only way I found to make things work in my computer (asus M50v without nvidia driver installed because it crashes) is either not to listen to music using a media player but youtube instead, or use MATE so then banshee doesn't cause any problem.

Thanks and if you need more information let me know,
Bernardo

On my system the bug is triggered when I try to use the banshee applet in the top bar after a while of banshee playing music. When I click on the symbol with the musical note it becomes highlighted, as if activated, however the dialog doesn't come up. After that all gnome shell functions cease to work. I can do 'DISPLAY=:0.0 gnome-shell --replace' from another terminal, which makes most of the gnome shell usable again. Some functions (like logging out or shutting down) are without function still

I have the same problem, and I can add that the freeze seems always to be triggered when I use the hot corner, which is the moment the freeze happens.

I have the same problem with rhythmbox and clementine, so maybe it is a pulse audio problem? Youtube and video playes work fine however.

Has the cause of this problem been identified yet? I have had this problem since installation of Mint12. Gnome shell freezes at some point that is somehow related to a combination Banshee, use of hot corner, and passing of time (and maybe Transmission? as I often have this running in background). I haven't been able to figger out how to trigger the freeze at will, but it happens quite often when banshee is running (which is often) makes my desktop quite unusable. Any solutions/workarounds available?

Same problem here (Linux Mint12 64bits, InterCorei5, ATI Radeon)

Banshee freezes Gnome Shell, and I can only make Alt+F2 - restart

I thougth Rythmbox was the solution, but now I can see it is not. Any idea?

Seems that two patches do the job...
