motif buttons broken since ubuntu 11.10 upgrade

I use the astronomy program "xephem", which in turn is based on the motif library.

xephem:

Since the upgrade ubuntu 11.04 -> 11.10 some buttons do not work any more. (For example File -> System log -> Close)
The problem comes with the self - compiled version (from clearskyinstitute.com) and with the precompiled version

Other users report the same for the programs Cadence 5.1 and nedit.

Motif applications seem to be unusable at the moment.

This is a due to the bug reported as Bug #890947 and has been corrected with an update to compiz
