Bug Description

Hi, this is a bug I reported three months back which is marked confirmed, I have been able to solve this.
But it needs to be looked by the concerned development team
hence reporting here

Problem : A few Indian websites in local languages appear distorted when viewed in Chrome on Ubuntu 11.04 but they appear correct in Firefox on same machine. The sites are given in above launchpad link. The font of sites appear distorted (the problem exists only on chrome)
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/856736

Solution : deleting 2 default fonts
 /usr/share/fonts/truetype/freefont/FreeSerif.ttf
 /usr/share/fonts/truetype/freefont/FreeSans.ttf

Observation : An end user who installs from an installation media will never now that presence of above 2 default fonts caused the problem instead he will search for the correct fonts to be installed in Ubuntu machine so that site appears correct.Which will only make the problem worse.

How can this one be triaged as why the presence of above 2 default fonts caused this problem.
I want to dig it further it will help to make Ubuntu better.Let me know what steps should I follow.
