Driver TDFX (Voodoo3) not supported

Bug Description

The TDFX driver is not supported by Ubuntu Edgy Eft (6.10).
The Voodoo3 graphic cards can run under VESA driver, but with lot of limitations :
- no 3D acceleration
- no screen resolution, for user selection
- no fullscreen mode in other than current resolution, for software applications

The TDFX driver was working correctly in the Dapper Drake version (6.06).
Hope this lack can be correct in the Feisty Fawn (7.04).

Yours,
Sylvain

Is this the same bug as 68291? Someone reported that it didn't work in Herd 4.

i have a voodoo5 5500 in my system;
i tried it with kubuntu feisty herd5 yesterday, but it also choose
the VESA driver;
but the situation was even worse :-(
after finished with booting from the cd, the screen was completly distorted; i tried to boot with safe grafics mode, but that does not
change; i found that pressing CTRL-ALT-+ does the job; the second
resolution works (but you have to scroll/virtual screen still is bigger)
switching back to the first resolution gets the ugly screen back again,
so it is not an initialition problem, but more an problem with this
specific mode;
now i am trying to enable the TDFX driver (from an old and working x.org-conf) first time i tried it, the screen gits locked; mouse and
keyboard without any function; -> i am looking into it
should i provide some sort of logs?
