Backspace sometimes backs up several steps

Bug Description

I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 with kernel 3.0.0-12-generic and latest marlin from the daily ppa.

Often when navigating folders, backspace backs up several steps at once. For instance, if I'm in /home/ubuntu/Documents/private and press backspace, instead of going to /home/ubuntu/Documents, marlin goes to /home or /home/ubuntu with one keystroke (not always the same folder). Sometimes it works as expected, with backspace just backing up one step but on most occasions it backs up several steps.

Alt+left/right works as intended, always just one step at a time.

I am not sure if it's a real problem with Marlin but a problem with keyboard sensitivity.

I don't think it has to do with keyboard sensitivity, it has never happened with nautilus or any other program and I get the same result with the laptop keyboard as with an external one. The key presses are also very short

I also noticed this now: when the backspace takes me back too many levels, the browsing history is gone as well. I can't use alt+right to go forward again, for example.

Is there any way I can provide more information on this matter?

Additional note:
When backspace takes me back all the way to / from /home/ubuntu/Documents/private (for example), I can go back to the previous folder by pressing alt+left or left arrow on toolbar. Then it goes through every folder on the way to where I were before.
I can not go forward (alt+right) which would be the instinctive thing to do, but if I go back (alt+left), it goes to /home, then /home/ubuntu and so on until I reach the folder I was in before pressing backspace.

This behaviour seems to be fixed with the latest release, I'm no longer experiencing this problem!
