Bug Description

Hi,
On my maintained packages page (https://launchpad.net/~manu-tm/+maintained-packages), tickr for Ubuntu Precise is not showing the last version (0.5.4-1), whereas the new version has been uploaded and is ok. It's been like that for several weeks. Do I have to do something or?
Thanks.

Hello. I do not know the details of this part of the system. However, I looked up the sort order for this code, and I noticed that we sort on a number of fields at a higher precedence than date. Armed with this knowledge, I compared the two packages.

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tickr/0.5.3-1
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tickr/0.5.4-1

The most obvious thing I noticed for 0.5.4-1 is that it is uploaded to main rather than universe. Is this intentional?

If you double-check those two packages for that change and reply here that everything looks as it should, we can get an expert to look at this and determine if it is a bug, and if there are some actions you can take to get the behavior you want.

Hi,

The 2 packages were uploaded to Debian unstable then synced with Ubuntu. And 0.5.4-1 is in universe on that page:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/+source/tickr/0.5.4-1

So I really believe something is going wrong here.

Version 0.5.5 has just been synced from Debian and the page is now up-to-date.

This only ever worked accidentally: Debian syncs used to be performed by reuploading the sources to Ubuntu, so it appeared that the Debian maintainer/uploader were also the Ubuntu ones. This changed with the move to native syncing; we now internally copy the Debian packages to Ubuntu, so upload_archive is Debian, so the Ubuntu publications don't show up on +maintained-packages or +uploaded-packages.

The behaviour requested here is roughly the inverse of previously requested changes; some Debian maintainers really don't wish to be presented as Ubuntu maintainers. See also bug #41691, bug #295626, bug #827608, bug #876594, and <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebianMaintainerField>.

One way around this might be:
 - show packages in Debian on their maintained-software page
 - when a package has been synced to (N) other distributions, show those somehow (additional rows, or an expander, or a list or something)

(Marking this low as it's not in our current roadmap; if someone wants to do it we'll be delighted to mentor them).
