Bug Description

After syncing my files to ubuntuone I was concerned that not all my files were been sync'd to my cloud as the usage reported was far less than what I had actually sync'd. After sync'ing my account on another machine I have found that all my files have been sync'd successfully but the size reported by ubuntuone is incorrect. I have about 30GB of files sync'd but u1 says that I have 27.9GB sync'd. This could cause massive confusion to customers as well as potentially lose Canonical money as they are able to sync more files than their limits allow.

Please see the attached screenshot which was taken on my client machine which was a fresh install that had been signed in with ubuntuone.

Nautilus and Ubuntu One Control Panel display size in different units - but usage size in bytes is the same.

Note, that Ubutnu One Control Panel uses GiB (gibibytes, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gibibyte). As 1 GiB approximately is 1.074 GB, so 27.9 GiB is approximately 29.9 GB.

Well then you have a bug in your web UI as that uses GB everywhere no GiB. It's not clear to the user what unit it's using as it's not consistent. It says I'm using 27.9GB and that I can add 5GB to my account. Please see attached screenshot.

I agree, this might be a bug of web UI

Do you think I should create a new issue for the web UI then?

There is no need to - I guess, I've specified the right package - Ubuntu One Servers

Where are you getting the 30GB number from?

I don't think this necessarily belongs as a bug against the server. It is very plausible that this is the block size issue, which I suppose we could fix by lying and saying you're using more space on the server than you actually are, but probably not worth it?
