Bug Description

I've helped a friend update his computer from natty to oneiric. After that was accomplished, Ubuntu which I'd praised gleefully embarassed itself by failing to show a login screen. Apparently, these days lightdm is the login manager of choice. I had to put the following into root's crontab to make sure lightdm does come up.

@reboot sleep 22; service lightdm stop;service lightdm start

unity-greeter is installed.

Could you add /var/log/lightdm/lightdm.log to the bug?
