Bug Description

Binary package hint: beagle

1. Start Kerry and Beagle
2. Logout of KDE session (reuse last session must be turned on, but it is the default in KDE)
3. Log on again. In KDE System Tray there is a Kerry Icon (Dog) and a Beagle icon (magnifying glass).

The Beagle icon causes System Tray icons to be aligned in a single row instead of two and it is not needed to run Kerry.

The same thing happens on my fully updated Feisty system. Marking it as confirmed.

I thinks this is due Beagle being built with the GTK default UI. Maybe it would be rebuilt without it and let the user choose a preferred UI.

To fix this, please just remove the /etc/xdg/autostart/beagle-search-autostart.desktop file.

I rather think this is a dirty fix: it probably would break autostarting beagle for gnome-users on the same system, wouldn't it?

Maybe it would be a good idea to use the /etc/alternatives system?

As of https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/beagle/0.2.16.3-0ubuntu3 "beagle-search" does not get auto-started for KDE anymore:
       beagle (0.2.16.3-0ubuntu3) feisty; urgency=low

  * Add beagle-search-not-start-in-kde.dpatch:
    - beagle-search doesn't start in KDE
