Bug Description
Binary package hint: evms
On a laptop, an upgrade from a vanilla LTS installation to 6.10 (via update-manager -c) hangs, apparently during upgrade/install of evms. Below are some relevant lines from ps. I don't believe I've done anything unusual on this box that would affect the kernel/etc, aside from installing the updates that are suggested via that little asterisk icon.
I "solved" this problem by killing the thermal process. The update proceeded, then hung again during the install/upgrade of powernowd and another package. I think these are probably caused by the first failure with evms/thermal.
My laptop is a Pavilion N5240, which is fairly old (circa 1999?), if that matters.
I'll have to submit this before the upgrade finishes, as I'm on the box being upgraded, so I'm not sure how this'll turn out.

After completing this upgrade, I don't see any obvious fallout. Nonetheless, this problem would completely stymie a novice user, I think.
