Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/894579/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

Making a better description of the problem , the sound can't play kaffeine is ac3+ . But in other channels can play it. And in other cases the video is abrupt.

I have this problem too. I can play DVDs, CDs, stream podcasts and record TV from Kaffeine and play back through VLC all with sound. But there is no sound when I play any TV channel.

I have the latest Kaffeine 1.2.2 and I'm on Ubuntu 10.04.

I have no problem with sound in any other app.

My media card is a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR4000 DVB S/S and I'm using it for Terrestrial channels

I've tried extending the buffers and that hasn't helped at all. It's as though the output is directed to some random port - but I have been unable to verify that if that is the problem.

I should probably add to the above comment that I'm in New Zealand: And have been trying sporadically to sort this problem for about 4 years
