Fontforge crashes when I try to expand a stroke

Bug Description

FontForge has been shaky since the first release of Unity, but now, with Gnome 3, it has become unusable. It crashes for no apparent reason, when you hit Control, when you select a function from a menu (that's new - last time I had to use it, menus were safe). Maybe the transcript below helps.

Same thing happens on Lucid, there is a few second delay after doing that but does not occur every single time.

This bug (specifically the crash on selecting Element>Expand Stroke...) affects me too.
