Bug Description

I am using gimp2.0-quiteinsane package to scan images in GIMP. But as it got dropped from archive I looked at alternatives - xscanimage looked like the only option.

But each time when I press "Acquire preview" button in xscanimage it crashes. Quiteinsane works without problems so it rather not permissions issue.

Scanner is Epson Stylux DX4050 multi function device:

Bus 005 Device 004: ID 04b8:082f Seiko Epson Corp. Stylus DX4050

21:25 hrw@puchatek:~$ sane-find-scanner |grep -v \#
Found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8 [EPSON], product=0x082f [USB MFP]) at libusb:005:004

We recommend Simple Scan for scanning, but I'm assigning to the Desktop Team so they can take a look

Can you please report the xscanimage crash with apport, so that we get a proper backtrace? This will create a new report, so I'm closing this one.

Also, I'm regularly using simple-scan, which is working perfectly here. We do so support that (we don't support xscanimage), so crash reports there have a much higher chance of being worked on.

Thanks!
