Unable to scan in GIMP

Bug Description
I am using gimp2.0-quiteinsane package to scan images in GIMP. But as it got dropped from archive I looked at alternatives - xscanimage looked like the only option.
But each time when I press "Acquire preview" button in xscanimage it crashes. Quiteinsane works without problems so it rather not permissions issue.
Scanner is Epson Stylux DX4050 multi function device:

We recommend Simple Scan for scanning, but I'm assigning to the Desktop Team so they can take a look
