Bug Description

On Ubuntu 11.10 (both for i386 and AMD64 version), when I use the "autologin" feature of lightdm, randomly the session starts with a display bug at the top of the screen (blinking dashes below the status bar). I can use point-and-click, but the session crashes back to the login screen as soon as I press the "Enter" key.
This happens one third of the boots.

Attached is the lightdm.log file. I must add that I use a Intel Core i5-2500K with a Radeon 5850 graphic card.

The same thing happens to me. I am using Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit.

I am also attaching the same log file although I'm not sure if it includes the last instance of the error.

This behavior seems similar to a bug I reported: bug 902772.

I am not using the autologin feature, however I receive the same flashing dashes. And when I enter my password, upon the last keystroke LightDM "crashes" and I am presented with the login screen again. At that point I am able to successfully log in.
