Bug Description

Problems is intermittent but frequent. ~ 10-20% depending on the command run.
It also seems to happen with xterm so it may be an xserver problem.

I did have the terminal in full-screen mode and the problem would occur about 1 out of 3-5 tests. I clicked the Restore icon to take g-t out of full-screen mode and the problem went away, regardless of who I positioned and sized the terminal. I even brought it back to full-screen mode and tried 10 times to see the problem without success. Then I wrote this note and tried again and on the 2nd attempt, the hang happened again. If I switch processes using Alt-Tab or select a g-t menu item the output is flushed as well. If I move or click the mouse or even press non-return keys the flush still does not occur. I opened a new g-t tab and could reproduce the problem there as well.

Other processes running (not that this should matter) include document-viewer and google-chrome-beta.

I was just compiling a trivial app using clang: clang -v -O3 -o fizzbuzz-clang fizzbuzz.c

That's about it. I might try to reproduce this with the xserver using nouveau rather than the proprietary Nvidea driver if you thin that would help.

This is still occurring: Dec 15, 2011.
It seems to occur more easily (or perhaps only) with the setting:
nvidia Xserver Settings
  Power Mizer
     Preferred Mode: Adaptive

We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all reported bugs in a timely manner.

Ubuntu 11.10 (oneiric) reached end-of-life on May 9, 2013.

Do you still see a problem related to the one that you reported in a currently supported version of Ubuntu? Please let us know if you do and in which version otherwise this report can be left to expire in approximately 60 days time.

Thank you for helping make Ubuntu better.
