Bug Description
I want to 'maximise' a Window, but not full-screen, that is I want to keep the title bar and dock visible.
Using the drag method, Unity will not let me do this, as it tries to guess what shape the window should be (maximised in height but only taking up some of the width). The only way to achieve what I want is alt-middle click and drag using that method.
I've attached a video showing me trying to do this, first trying to drag multiple times, even slowly, but never able to do so. Finally I use the alt-middle method which works fine.
I suggest making resize operations not try to change the layout.

What appears to be happening is that the side-by-side tiling code is getting activated during resize. My understanding is that the side-by-side option is only supposed to show when a window has been picked up by its title bar and dragged to the left or right edges.
In which case the side-by-side being offered during a corner/edge resize would be not correct.
