Bug Description

On Ubuntu 11.10, when clicking on dash home (unity menu bar), the x-session will crash and redirect to the login page. This same behavior occurs arbitrarily when executing other applications (e.g. KCacheGrind, VirtualBox, ...) and sometimes without manual interaction.

These are the contents of .xsession-errors after a crash:

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

Hello
When the bug is reproduced again, can you please attach here, using the button below 'Add attachment or patch' the file
/var/log/kern.log
I suspect some hardware problems.

Logging in with Ubuntu (instead of Ubuntu 2D) it does not crash (so far) when clicking on the Dash home, but still when launching Virtual Box. See attached .xsession-errors for this case.

Do you need further information? This continues to happen and makes the system just unusable.
