Bug Description

after upgrading from ubuntu 10.10 > 11.04 > 11.10 the laptop acer 5336 showed the grubloader after a few seconds the screen went blank. ubuntu loaded normaly when i conntected a external monitor was this one working. via screens i 'closed' the laptopscreen and turned it on again. now the laptopscreen as image. i adjusted the grubfile: it looks like this:
GRUB_DEFAULT=0
#GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=0
GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET=true
GRUB_TIMEOUT=10
GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR=`lsb_release -i -s 2> /dev/null || echo Debian`
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"
#GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="i915.modeset=0 quiet splash acpi_osi=Linux"
#GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=""
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="acpi_osi=Linux"

now the laptop startś up showing the grubmanager, a few seconds a purple screen and turns to blank. When i hit the control keys i get the backlight on.
I tried several solutions, but nothing was a final solution.
In ubuntu 10.10 everything works fine.

vince, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-intel REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.
