In a logically written firefox, there are two pieces of information that need to be determined about multiple tabs.
1) does the user want to be asked about remembering open tabs at exit. there are two possibilities - yes or no.
2) if the answer to 1 is no, it needs to be determined if the user wants to always remember tabs at exit. Again there
are two possibilities - yes or no.

firefox irritatingly always asks the user both questions at exit if there are multiple tabs and does not remember when the answer is don't ask.

I can confirm this bug. I checked about:config and browser.tabs.warnOnClose is definitely set to "false".

But when closing the browser when having multiple tabs the dialog that asks me if I want to save the tabs or if I want exit pops up.

There is another setting that seems to default to True. Its called browser.showQuitWarning. When I set this to false, the browser exits immediately.

Unfortunately this is reset to True on overy start of the browser.

As of this date (14 months later), bug still exists. It's minor as it doesn't affect security or stability - but very visible and annoying to users.

Mint 16, 2 years and 2 months later, still annoying the hell out of me. This is probably the most constantly irritating parts about Linux Mint. Why can't we get this fixed?

I have this problem since mint 14 and it's really annoying. I don't use mint anymore, but it makes it very awkward for me to recommend mint to someone. I would usually recommend it to my windoze-switcher friends, but it's hard to convince someone that he is using a high quality operating system when a problem so simple goes unsolved for sooo long.

LM13 LTS, and the issue persists. If the feature does not work and is not considered worthy of attention, then here is a dialog which can safely be deleted.
With every upgrade which comes along (and they are frequent and gratefully received) I hope this little detail has been resolved. But, alas . . . .
As Alain de Botton reminds us, frustration is the conflict of wishes with reality, ("The Consolations of Philosophy", Penguin 2000). He also reminds us that Seneca and other ancients figured out that the best response is to go with the flow. Well, that was OK for Seneca when ordered by Nero to take his own life (he did), but this dialog issue is far more serious. :)
