Bug Description

X freezes momentarily. The screen flickers. The mouse and keyboard stop responding. But it usually does return to normal. But this happens repeatedly, rendering the laptop quite unusuable. The problem begins shortly after the power adapter is unplugged from the laptop. It may or may not disappear after being plugged back in. Sometimes, using nvidia-settings, if the refresh rate for the monitor is fixed to 60Hz it helps. But not all the time.
Always, the refresh rate returns back to "Auto". Even after "Applying" and saving configuration to xorg.conf
Using Ubuntu 11.10
