Bug Description

Description: Ubuntu 11.10
Release: 11.10
beowulf@seashell:~$ apt-cache policy update-manager

update-manager does behave annoying under unity, since it pops up to front, but does not activate its window. If the user is active in e.g. Firefox while update-manager pops up, you cannot just switch [alt]+[tab] to get back to firefox, because you still are in active firefox but have the update-manager window in front. You have to activate the update-manager window first before you can change back to firefox or hide the window of update-manager.

I'd expect, that wenn update-manager pops up its window, it activates the window. There's no point in having a window popping up to front when it is not activated. Ideally update-manager should not pop up to front but use the urgent-messaging type of unity to show that there is something going on.

Not so easy, cause you will have to wait till update-manager pops up with a notification for new updates.

But if it pops up, just try [alt]+[tab] to recognize, that it has opened at the front, but not activated the window. If you were working in fullscreen in e.g. firefox you don't get back to firefox with [alt]+[tab] since you first change to the update-manager window at the front.

I didn't test out how it reacts if i start update-manager manually.
