Installation of kubuntu 11.10 failed. "Could not calculate the upgrade"

Bug Description

Ugrade being done inside kubuntu. System is 64 bit system with nvidia driver. kernel is 2.6.37-12-generic. I am trying to upgrade from the previous kubuntu version, 11.04.

Error message was "Could not calculate the upgrade".

Thanks for your bug report. Could you please run the following command in a terminal:
apport-collect 887386

After you do that please make sure apport attached the files in var/log/dist-upgrade, and if they weren't attached please manually attach them.

My system is 11.04 not 10 something.

I don't know if all of the files were attached...

Thanks for running the command. Could you please check and see if there's a file called "term.log" in "var/log/dist-upgrade", and attach it if it's there? Otherwise I think this has enough information for someone more familiar with debugging upgrade problems to diagnose the problem.

There was a file there, but the size was zero and your file attacher was unhappy with it.

BTW: Kubuntu 11.10 is very nice and the repaired installation went well.
