Bug Description

ubuntu 11.10 64bits
banshee 2.2.0

1. Pin banshee to the unity launcher and close it
2. Open 'gnome-control-center media' from terminal
3. Select banshee as preferred app to open music CDs
4. Insert a music CD (banshee automatically opens) OR Open nautilus and navigate to the music CD

What happens:
Banshee adds a new icon to the launcher(which is active) and the old, pinned icon stays inactive.

What should happen:
Banshee should use the already pinned icon in the launcher

=====Original Report=====
I've a banshee icon in the panel, and I've used gnome-control-center media to select banshee to automatically open the music CD. When I insert a music CD there appears another banshee icon in the panel, same if I open banshee selecting the CD in nautilus. I attach an image. Other music CD autostart programs as brasero and sound-juicer work fine.

Sure Loong, I'll write step by step.

1.- Open banshee
2.- Select 'keep in launcher' in the panel
3.- Close banshee
4.- Open gnome-control-center media (not sure in English, in Spanish is the app 'Soportes extraíbles')
5.- Select banshee to open the music CD
6.- Close gnome-control-center media
7.- Insert a music CD (banshee automatically opens and here's the BUG: I'd expect that banshee uses the icon in the panel but another one appears)
8.- Close banshee
9.- Open nautilus and navigate to the music CD
10.- Click on Open with banshee (the same BUG: I expect that banshee uses the icon in the panel but another one appears)

I've attached a video. Wish this helps, regards.

David.

Thanks for the bug report. Is that still an issue for you Ubuntu 12.04 with all updates applied? Can you please test that and let us know?

Hi Omer, I'm afraid it's not solved. I've tested in ubuntu 12.04 64bits fully updated. A lot of programs work fine, but I've found some others that create a second icon in the panel: texmaker, calibre, ex falso, avidemux, gconf-editor, workrave, easytag, synaptic, dconf-editor...

Moreover, I've found an intersting behaviour in banshee: if I open banshee from dash it works fine, it uses the banshee icon in the panel; However if I insert a music CD (which automatically opens banshee in my machine) then a second icon in the panel appears.

Wish this helps.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running apport-collect 887145 and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
