RuneScape crash on load

On attempting to play RuneScape (www.runescape.com, and clicking on "Play Now"), the game window hangs occasionally. An error file was dumped to my home folder on Ubuntu 11.10.

Something that might perhaps be related:

When the game is able to load successfully, I am able to play for a couple of minutes before the X Server crashes. The only way I can recover from this is to restart X with CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE. In this scenario, however, I do not get the error file dumped to my home folder. Please advise if I should report this 2nd scenario as a separate bug.

I have the same error but my game usability is ok. I am just here to report this bug or contribute to patching the bug.

Thanks for the comment. I added a bit more info to the bug description. Do you happen to face the second scenario as well (X crashes after a few minutes of game play)?

it does not crash for me, I just get an error file and the java window hangs. I just close the browser and try again.

Hi there

I just realised that one of the most certain ways to crash the game was by resizing the browser window (whether in firefox or chrome), e.g. minimising and maximising.

I also found out today that this instability problem totally does not occur when using Java Runtime Environment 6 Update 29 (from http://javadl.sun.com/webapps/download/AutoDL?BundleId=56690) instead of the current openjdk version on Ubuntu 11.10
