Bug Description

Followed the instructions on the Freescale i.MX53-based QuickStart support page:

* Download the preinstalled desktop image from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/oneiric/release/ubuntu-11.10-preinstalled-desktop-armel+mx5.img.gz
* Write it to a microSD card - the QuickStart board only boots from microSD
$ zcat oneiric-preinstalled-desktop-armel+mx5.img.gz| sudo dd of=/dev/mmcblk0 bs=4M
* Insert your microSD card in the board, plug in the power cord and press the power-on button next to the microSD slot.

The system boots, resizes then reboots, and then hangs after uttering the following:

* Stopping System V runlevel compatibility [ OK ]
 * Stopping CPU interrupts balancing daemon [ OK ]
[ 259.462469] imx-ipuv3 imx-ipuv3: Channel already disabled 9

....

It appears to have configured the network, but sshd isn't responding so I can't log in, and there is
nothing on the VGA output ... so not sure where to go from here ... the microSD card I'm using is a Kingston 8gb C10.

Looks like this may have been an issue with my vga monitor, however, I'm now running into the "installer window disappearing due to a crash towards the end of the install" and leaving me with no way into the system. The workaround mentions "NOT selecting automatic login", but that doesn't seem to make any difference. How do I get the install to complete so I can log into the system and proceed with development?

This is really a question about how to effect the workaround for "871785 crash on ARM at the end of install"
