jevgtv, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. However, there are no new official OpenOffice.org releases in Ubuntu packaging anymore => Won't Fix

Please test for this problem in LibreOffice. If using Lucid or Maverick feel free to type at the Terminal:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y upgrade && sudo apt-get -y install libreoffice-writer

For more on LibreOffice installation, please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LibreOffice If the problem persists, please click "Also affects distribution Libreoffice (Ubuntu)". As well, if the issue you are reporting is an upstream one, it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the software by following the instructions at http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport . If you have done so, please tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a bugwatch that will inform us about its status.

Reporting the bug to the developers of the software by following the instructions at http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport is not possible (at least for me), because of imapassible registration procedure (they report, that they are unable to send confirmation, without that the registration is impossible)

jevgtv, your crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. One may execute at the Terminal:
sudo service apport start force_start=1

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

The bug shows with libreoffice also with non-odf-documents.

For reproducing the bug it is necessary to open a *.doc of *.rtf document and leave it idle for a couple of hours. After returning to the document the libreoffice window disappears in 0 to 10 sec. However the data inserted after last saving may be lost!

Dear Christopher,

I am afraid, the files may contain confidential information, so I will
try to reproduce the bug with more neutral office files and than upload
the writer file and the crash report to this bug.

Thank you for understanding!

Regards,

Jevgtv

It was not possible to reproduce the bug until I made the system little bit busy by extracting files from archive. During that I have tried to save some changes in previously opened writer documents and switch between ones. After that the writer's window became darker for a while (1-3 seс) and disappeared. It was little bit unusual, because usually it disappears abruptly, without darkening.

What your reporting seems a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/745836 as in the crash file you had procmap instances of libuno_cppu.so.3 and libuno_salhelpergcc3.so.3.
