Bug Description

I tried installing Feisty on a Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop. The machine has a 1920x1200 TFT, but the resolution that I get is 1024x768. Moreover, there's obviously no video acceleration whatsoever (windows move terribly slowly). The problem has persisted in all Feisty releases from Herd 1 to 4.

The laptop has an NVidia graphics card, and it was detected without problems with Edgy & earlier ones.

It appears that "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" does not recognize itself the
right driver for my hardware. It gave me an error message like "No X Server
is known that matches your hardware". However, when I manually selected "nv",
it worked just fine.

Here's the output of the corresponding commands:

I have generated the output from the Edgy installation, without rebooting to Feisty. Am I right that it doesn't matter for lspci?

OK, seems fixed in Feisty Beta (however, DPI seems to be misconfigured still)
