Xubuntu install via USB from live environment

Bug Description

I downloaded the Xubuntu torrent, installed it to a USB disk drive using the "Startup Disk Creator" in Xubuntu 11.10; rebooted my computer and let it boot Xubuntu from USB, proceeded to begin the installation and when asked for my username/password, it crashed with no error except an invitation to create a Launchpad bug.
